Carpet Cleaning

Soiling dulls the beauty of the carpets. Foot traffic, pets, and spills are certain other things that need to be attended to, to keep the carpet in good condition and for a longer time. There are certain 'do it yourself tips ' for carpet maintenance apart from the regular professional help that you may require.

For routine cleaning :

1.       Vacuum clean the carpets regularly

2.       Regular beating of the rug or carpet on the rear will remove most of the loose dust. Sweeping or brushing will also help remove the loose dust.

For wet spills :

1.       Act instantly

2.       Do not rub, just blot the spill with a blotting paper or cloth.

3.       Dilute the remaining spill with cold water and blot again

4.       Repeat till it is no longer visible. Mild wool detergent may be used for light stains.

If incase you feel that you should not try your hand on stain removal simply blot the wet spill and seek professional help for improper cleaning may cause the stain to set deep in the carpet and make cleaning even more difficult.

There are several factors that affect spot and stain removal :

1.       Age of stain - immediate removal is best. Time lets the stain set in the carpet.

2.       Type of stain - it determines the removal method.

3.       Stains due to hot spills are difficult stains.

4.       More the concentration of the spoilage, harder to remove. Fiber and pile type along with the surface area are also important criteria.

Professional carpet care should be availed once a year or so. Care should be taken that the carpets are always washed with water or steam, or dry cleaned depending on the instructions. Chemicals should be avoided.
